AMY TAUBIN
Author and film critic Amy Taubin was born in 1939 in New York, NY. She attended Sarah Lawrence College for her BA and NYU for her MA in Cinema Studies. In 1961, Amy married Richard Foreman, who she had met in high school in Scarsdale, NY. After marrying they moved to NYC so Taubin could pursue an acting career. They divorced in 1972. Before becoming a writer, Taubin was an actress, performing in Broadway and Off-Broadway Shows. She was in films by Jonas Mekas, Andy Warhol and Michael Snow. She is a contributing editor for two prominent film magazines, the British Sight & Sound and the American Film Comment. She has also written regularly for The Village Voice, The Millennium Film Journal, and Artforum, and used to be curator of video and film at the non-profit experimental performance space The Kitchen.
